The JROTC program is like no other course at Louisville High School. It is a challenging and rewarding program that teaches a broad scope of subjects that will help you learn about yourself and your own abilities. You will learn to be a member of a team and grow to become a leader. You will develop skills like communication, health, and fitness, first aid, financial management, and geography that will help you in any career path you choose. The goal of the program is to make you a better person by placing an emphasis on citizenship through service learning and giving you some historical perspective of American history and government. The best part of it all is the program puts the cadets in charge! You learn and apply leadership theory by taking charge of a group, making decisions, public speaking, giving briefings, and even teaching classes!
JROTC is NOT just marching and it doesn't mean you are going into the military. As a part of the course, cadets participate in drill and ceremonies, physical training, team building events, field trips, service learning projects, and uniform inspections. In JROTC you will have to wear a uniform once a week so if you don't like that it may not be for you. In addition to all of that, the program supports several "Special Teams" like Drill Team, Color Guard, Saber Team, and Rifle Team! Sound like fun? Check out the rest of our site for more information!
